By default, Hide My WP Ghost comes with 2 known security levels: Safe Mode and Ghost Mode.

Starting from these levels of security, we added some security presets we’ve tested over time based on different server configurations.

These presets allow you to quickly load security features based on your needs, increasing your website’s security with minimal configuration.

Introduction

Hide My WP Ghost offers four distinct preset options to adapt to different security needs. These presets can be loaded from the Hide My WP > Backup / Restore section.

Each preset provides a different level of security configuration, ensuring compatibility with various server settings and plugins.


Preset Options Overview

  1. Minimal (No Config Rewrites)
  2. Safe Mode + Firewall + Compatibility Settings
  3. Safe Mode + Firewall + Brute Force + Events Log + Two Factor
  4. Ghost Mode + Firewall + Brute Force + Events Log + Two Factor

How to Load Preset Options

  1. Navigate to Hide My WP > Backup / Restore.
  2. Choose the desired preset from the available options.
  3. Click on the Load Preset button.
  4. Confirm the action. Note that loading a preset will override the current settings, so ensure you back up your settings before proceeding.

1. Minimal (No Config Rewrites)

Purpose: This preset is designed for servers that do not allow configuration file rewrites. It provides essential security features without modifying server configuration files.

Features:

  • Custom wp-login.php path
  • Basic security measures
  • No changes to server configuration

Use Case: Ideal for users with restrictive server environments or those who prefer not to alter server configurations.


2. Safe Mode + Firewall + Compatibility Settings

Purpose: This preset offers a balance between security and compatibility. It loads safe mode custom paths along with medium-level firewall settings.

Features:

  • Safe Mode custom paths
  • Medium Firewall protection
  • Compatibility settings with other popular plugins

Use Case: Suitable for users looking for a moderate level of security that works well with most other plugins.


3. Safe Mode + Firewall + Brute Force + Events Log + Two Factor

Purpose: This preset enhances security by combining safe mode paths with advanced protection features.

Features:

  • Safe Mode custom paths
  • 8G Firewall protection
  • Brute Force protection on the login page with Math recaptcha
  • Events Log to record security events
  • Two Factor Authentication

Use Case: Ideal for users seeking comprehensive security measures to protect against various threats.


4. Ghost Mode + Firewall + Brute Force + Events Log + Two Factor

Purpose: This preset provides the highest level of security by incorporating ghost mode paths with robust protection features.

Features:

  • Ghost Mode custom paths
  • 8G Firewall protection
  • Brute Force protection on the login page with Math recaptcha
  • Events Log to record security events
  • Two Factor Authentication

Use Case: Best for users who need maximum security and are willing to change the default paths significantly.


Customizing Login Paths

After loading a preset, you may want to customize the login paths for additional security.

  • Safe Mode Login Path: Default is /newlogin.
  • Ghost Mode Login Path: Default is /ghost-login.

To change these paths:

  1. Go to Hide My WP > Change Paths.
  2. Enter the desired path in the Login Path field.
  3. Save the changes.

Backup and Restore Settings

Before loading any preset, it’s crucial to back up your current settings. This ensures you can revert to your previous configuration if needed.

  1. Navigate to Hide My WP > Backup / Restore.
  2. Click on Create Backup to save your current settings.
  3. To restore settings, select the backup file and click on Restore.
